rainey . . .

Many people have commented on Anson Rainey's recent articles in BAR on (stop me if you've heard this before . . . ) the origins of Israel. Most of these comments are none too flattering . . .

Recently, a few people have asked me questions regarding the historicity of biblical portrayals . . . Rainey's articles and these lucid critiques are worth reading, especially when one considers Rainey's methodological flaws and how his presuppositions are reflected in his conclusions.

Jay, thanks for the link. It's more fun to critique the belligerent vocal scholars with deep methodological flaws. It gives me something to do . . .
